The Chair takes an active role to reorient teacher education and university study programmes to address education for sustainability supported by Information and Communication Technologies both at the University of Crete, nationally and internationally. At the University of Crete and more specifically at the Department of Primary Education, two new courses have been introduced: one dealing with the didactics of education for sustainability and the other dealing with ICTs and education for sustainability. ESD has been also infused in various courses dealing with ICT in Education, Global Education and Didactics.

The University of Crete through the initiative of the Chair has been part of the Mediterranean Universities Network for Sustainable Development coordinated by the Mediterranean Information Office-ECSDE. The Network prepares the implementation of the Mediterranean Master Course on Education for Sustainable Development. The Chair is leading the development of the core course dealing with ICTs in ESD and is involved in the preparation of various other core courses as well.
